Artist Statement
My creation process begins as a thought-out plan of conscious choices yet evolves into something greater aided by the magic of serendipity. Working in the digital realm of appropriated footage and self-created motion graphics, I endeavor to stretch and transform them into new visual forms. These new visual forms are finalized through diverse designs: videos with an underlying spiritual presence whereby I slow down time and place the viewer into a relaxed, contemplative state of mind; videos that engage nonlinear narrative structures; and, fully abstract videos emphasizing one or more visual elements such as color, shape, space, and texture. Overall, the videos are placed into one or multiple planes that can give rise to new contexts and diverse meanings to the individual videos in addition to their placement within the artwork. Additionally, the overall video when viewed as one piece can set forth its own unique essence. Regarding audio, I generate the sound design through the layering of drone sounds, ambient music, and self-created soundscapes.
